She can call and speak to the Care Manager and document the conversation in the log book.

2) In the case of question number 2 and 3, tell your client you are
going to speak with your Care Manager.

3) Call your Care Manager and talk to her before you do anything then document it .

A ) Question: A client asks you to take a piece of jewelry over to Richview Square for repair on your way home.

Response: “You would love to help but Richview policy does not allow this task. Perhaps a friend or relative could help you”.

Reason: There are several liability issues with this task as RCCS would be responsible if the jewelry was lost, damaged, etc. The client could accuse you of stealing the piece as there would be no proof of the client’s request. There is also a liability issue if you should become injured on the walk over to the plaza as it is not a designated workplace.

B) Question: A client asks you to take $20 to load onto their laundry card. What do you say and do?

Response: “You would love to help but Richview policy does not allow this task. Perhaps a friend or relative could help you”. If the client is able to go downstairs to load the card with you, it would be acceptable to help.

Reason: RCCS policy states the handling of cash is not acceptable. The client could accuse you of stealing their money as she may forget she gave you the funds for the laundry. Sometimes, even having proof like a receipt may not help with their comprehension. Please work with the CSM to develop a plan on keeping consistent funds on the card.

C) Question: A client gives you $20 and asks you to pick up groceries (bread and soup) the next time you visit. What do you say and do?

Response: “You would love to help but Richview policy does not allow us to handle money. Perhaps a friend or relative could help you. Alternatively, please speak with my CSM to see how we can help you”.

Working together with the CSM, this policy is not set in stone depending upon the request. At Richview, if the cost is nominal like $2 and the item and a receipt is produced, it is occasionally permissible. The CSM should know you are doing tasks like this.

At Widdicombe, there is no dining room so the client is encouraged to work with the CSM for alternative solutions. The client could be set up on grocery gateway and the good food box.

Purchasing items on your own time is not permitted. Please speak with the CSMs or Lisa if in doubt of any scenario / policy.

B) First off in order to put money on the laundry card, you would have to use a credit card, and we are not allowed to use a client’s credit card.

C) We are not allowed to take money from the clients for any reason, so I would very nicely tell my client ask her friend or family member to do so, I would also mention it to my care manager.
